Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do I need to get set up for a class?

All you need is a decent machine with Internet connectivity, a Zoom account to join the webinars, and a Discord account to join the discussion channel for the enrolled bootcamp.

2. What are the available payment options?

We currently support all major credit and debit cards. Payments are processed via a secure online credit card payment managed by Stripe, Inc. (PCI level 1 certified operator). Please get in touch with us on feedback@binarysecuritysolutions.com if you are unable to complete the payment on our platform.

3. When will I get access to the bootcamps after enrollment?

The pre-requisite course material, if any, will be available as soon as you enroll. The labs and assignments for each week will be available on the day of each session.

4. Will I get support for my queries during and after the bootcamps?

Each bootcamp will have a dedicated Discord server for the participants. Subscribing to the Discord server is one of the prerequisites for each bootcamp – you will receive an invite link 2 days before the start of the bootcamp, and this expires 48 hours after the first session starts. Our technical support team will answer all of your queries on the channels on this server.

5. What time zone are the instructor-led classes held in?

The schedule for the instructor-led sessions will be published in ET, unless otherwise specified.

6. Are there any minimum requirements to use this portal?

We officially support Chrome, Firefox and IE on Windows, Mac and Linux desktops. Though we have not tested for other platforms such as tablets and phones, we have no reason to believe that it will not work on them. From a bandwidth perspective, the recommended minimum is 2 Mbps for fast viewing and downloading.

7. Can I record a class?

No. Pentester Academy does not permit recording and/or reuse of its copyrighted material by any participant. We will post the recording of each session on Discord within 24 hours of the end of the session, and all session recordings will expire one week after the bootcamp ends.

8. Is there a refund policy?

Refunds will only be issued for cancellation requests received within 48 hours of the first live instructor session, and may take up to 14 calendar days to process. Requests for refunds/cancellations should be submitted to feedback@binarysecuritysolutions.com.
In the event that Pentester Academy must cancel a bootcamp, a refund will be processed in full.

9. Can an enterprise enroll a team/group for a bootcamp? Is there a volume discount?

10. Can I subscribe to more than one bootcamp at a discounted price?

Bootcamps may be offered at discounted prices to participants of previous bootcamps and to Pentester Academy annual subscribers. These offers will be sent to subscribers to our mailing list.

11. How can I get notified of upcoming sales and special offers?

Please subscribe to our mailing list to be notified of any sales and special offers.

12. How much time do I have to finish the bootcamp assignments?

Unless otherwise specified, lab access for all bootcamps ends 1 week after the day of the last session. You have until then to complete all your assignments and qualify for the certificate of completion.

13. How much time do I have to complete the certification exam?

Depending on the bootcamp, you will have 60-90 days after the end of the bootcamp to complete the certification exam.

14. What is the cadence cycle of the labs and assignments for an ongoing bootcamp?

We have a live instructor session every week. Labs and assignments (if applicable) will be made available each week after the end of each session.

15. Are the Pentester Academy videos and Attack Defense labs included with this bootcamp purchase?

You will receive access to all labs you require for the bootcamp you are enrolled for. For access to the videos and labs that are not part of the purchased bootcamp, a Pentester Academy subscription will have to be purchased separately.

16. Can I still access a course after I have completed the bootcamp?

Unless otherwise specified, all course materials, including labs, will be available for 1 week after the last instructor session to allow for the completion of assignments and exams.

17. What happens if I cannot attend the session for some reason? Could I opt for the same class in another parallel session (if any)?

No. The same bootcamp will not be running in parallel, so please ensure that you are able to attend the live instructor sessions.

18. What happens if, due to some reason, a session is cancelled? How do I get notified of that?

If a session is cancelled, you would be notified of that via an email and on the Discord channel. The session will be rescheduled and the future date will be communicated as well. The same changes would be reflected on the website.

19. Do I have to travel to a training facility to take the instructor-led classes or can I attend virtually?

The sessions are completely virtual and can be attended from anywhere around the world. All you need is a decent connection to the internet to attend the sessions.

20. I want to join a bootcamp, but I cannot attend the live session because of the scheduled time. Will the bootcamp be scheduled at other times?

The live sessions of bootcamps are scheduled based on demand, and if there is a timing that you would prefer, do let us know at feedback@binarysecuritysolutions.com.

21. I have questions about content in the bootcamp course or lab exercises. Who can I ask?

Your best resource for questions regarding labs and course content will be the Discord channel for the bootcamp. In addition to participation from other students, the Discord channel is maintained periodically by our technical support team. The channel is also where notices and updates regarding the bootcamp are posted, so it is good practice to check the forum regularly.

22. I completed the course but don't know where to find my certificate?

Login to My Profile, click on the About tab. You should find certificates for completed bootcamps there.

23. Do I get a certificate for course completion?

Yes. Every student that completes the course qualifies for a certificate of completion. To obtain a certificate of achievement (e.g. CRTP, PAWSP), the student must complete an exam within the stipulated timeline, solving the specified number of challenges.

24. Where do I go and what do I need to take an exam?

Exams are delivered online and can be taken from anywhere in the world. Relevant details will be communicated via email at the appropriate time after the bootcamp is over. Candidates need to make sure they meet system and identification requirements.

25. Are there any exam prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites for the exams.

26. How many times am I allowed to take the certification exam provided with the bootcamp?

The purchase of a bootcamp includes 1 attempt at the certification exam.

27. Is there an additional cost for the extra attempts for the certification exam?

Further attempts can be purchased by contacting feedback@binarysecuritysolutions.com. The cost for further attempts will depend on the individual bootcamp.

28. Where can I get a course purchase receipt?

The purchase receipt would be sent to you via the email after you enroll into a course.

29. Why am I getting an error when submitting billing info or why is my credit card being declined?

If you’re running into a payment issue/error, you will need to contact your bank to find out why your card was declined. For example, you might want to check on whether your bank places restrictions on cross-border transactions or on online transactions that exceed a certain amount. If you have a different credit card, we would suggest giving that a try as well. Please also note that debit cards are sometimes known to present issues, so if the issue occurs with a debit card, you may want to try with a credit card instead.

30. There was an error/issue when I tried to submit payment and the order did not complete. However, I am seeing the transaction listed on my statement?

Blocked transactions may temporarily appear as pending on the customer’s statement before being removed.
